PACKING TIPS FOR A SAFER, FASTER FORT WAYNE MOVE

Good packing does more than protect your belongings. It helps the truck load cleaner, cuts down on confusion at the new house, and makes the entire day feel more controlled from start to finish.

PACK BY ROOM, NOT BY LEFTOVER SPACE

Mixing rooms together might feel efficient while you are packing, but it creates confusion later. Keep each box tied to one room and add a short contents label on at least two sides.

That one habit makes unloading faster and keeps you from standing in the new home opening random boxes just to find everyday essentials.

USE SMALLER BOXES FOR HEAVY ITEMS

Books, tools, canned goods, and dense decor should go into smaller boxes. Save larger cartons for lighter items like bedding, pillows, lampshades, and clothing.

That keeps boxes safer to carry, easier to stack, and less likely to split or sag when they are being moved quickly through hallways and doorways.

PROTECT FRAGILE ITEMS WITH STRUCTURE

Wrap breakables individually, cushion the bottom of the box, and fill empty space so contents do not shift around in transit. Plates usually travel better packed vertically than stacked flat.

If something is especially valuable, fragile, or sentimental, do not treat it like ordinary household packing. Set it aside, label it clearly, and make sure the handling plan is intentional.

CREATE ONE OPEN-FIRST GROUP

Set aside a small group of clearly marked boxes for kitchen basics, cleaning supplies, chargers, toilet paper, linens, medications, and kids' essentials. Your first night gets a lot easier when those items are easy to reach.

It sounds simple, but it can make the difference between settling in quickly and spending the evening digging through half the truck for things you need right away.
